Ductless mini-splits and VRF (variable refrigerant flow) systems are the fastest-growing HVAC category in downtown Toronto. Newer Liberty Village, Fort York, and CityPlace towers arrive with VRF as their primary suite system, and older brick-and-beam Corktown, Distillery, and Leslieville lofts increasingly get ductless retrofits because there's nowhere sensible to run traditional ductwork.
The systems are quiet, efficient, and zoneable — but they punish poor installation. Under-sized line sets, incorrect refrigerant charge, missing traps on long vertical runs, and skipped nitrogen purges are the reasons we get called out to a two-year-old unit that already isn't cooling properly.
We install, commission, and repair Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, LG, and Fujitsu equipment. On new installs we vacuum to 500 microns, weigh in charge, and provide the printed commissioning sheet. On repair calls we diagnose with pressure/temperature and superheat/subcool — not just 'add a pound and see.'

Sometimes. Most condo declarations require board approval before you can penetrate the exterior wall or place a condenser on a balcony. We can prepare the technical package the board typically asks for, but the approval itself is yours to get.
How long does a single-head mini-split install take?+
A straightforward single-head install with a short line set is a one-day job. Multi-head systems, long risers, or concealed line sets typically take two to three days.
Which brand should I pick?+
For downtown Toronto lofts and condos we most often specify Mitsubishi Electric or Daikin — cold-climate hyper-heat models handle Toronto winters without a backup source, and parts availability is strong. We'll spec against your actual load, not brand preference.
Do you service VRF systems installed by the original builder?+
Yes, on the suite side. Building-owned VRF risers and outdoor equipment stay with the property's contract HVAC vendor, but branch boxes, indoor units, and controls inside your suite are fair game for us to service.
